Aquaculture wastewater is a major pollutant generated by the livestock and poultry breeding industry, characterized by high concentrations of organic matter, high ammonia nitrogen, high suspended solids, and abundant pathogenic microorganisms. The wastewater contains large amounts of undigested feed, feces, animal hair, and disinfectant residues, leading to extremely high concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), ammonia nitrogen, and total phosphorus. It also exhibits significant fluctuations in water quality and is prone to decomposition and odor. Improper treatment and direct discharge can cause water eutrophication, disease transmission, and pose serious threats to the surrounding water environment and public health. Although the traditional combined process of "solid-liquid separation + anaerobic/aerobic biological treatment" is widely used, it often faces challenges such as long treatment cycles, large footprint, high surplus sludge production, limited removal of ammonia nitrogen and refractory organic matter, and unstable system operation during winter low temperatures or water quality shocks.
Addressing the core treatment difficulties of aquaculture wastewater—"high load, high ammonia nitrogen, and susceptibility to pathogen proliferation"—the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment, developed and manufactured by our company (AA&SS AQUA HITECH CO., LTD.), generates highly oxidizing reactive species through electrochemical action. This not only effectively decomposes residual organic matter and some refractory nitrogenous compounds in the wastewater but also directly kills or inactivates pathogenic microorganisms (such as E. coli, parasite eggs). Its significant advantages lie in its operation without the addition of any chemical agents, avoiding the potential harmful disinfection by-products from additional dosing of disinfectants (e.g., chlorine-based agents) and the chemical sludge issues from coagulant addition. Furthermore, the equipment does not generate any chemical residual solid waste, making the treatment process clean and particularly suitable as a safety assurance unit for advanced treatment and reuse of aquaculture wastewater.
Wastewater undergoes pretreatment, including screening to remove large particulate matter and efficient solid-liquid separation (such as screw pressing, centrifugation, or screening) to remove the vast majority of suspended solids and fibrous materials. The pretreated liquid enters an equalization tank for homogenization, then proceeds to the front-end EC Electrochemical Equipment. This efficiently removes residual fine suspended solids, colloidal substances, part of the dissolved organic matter, and phosphates. It can also assist in removing some color and odor through reduction reactions, effectively reducing the load for subsequent treatment.
The supernatant after treatment and solid-liquid separation primarily contains dissolved organic pollutants, ammonia nitrogen, and potential pathogens. The wastewater then enters the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment. The electrochemical oxidation process can directly attack and degrade part of the organic pollutants. More importantly, it achieves highly efficient and rapid disinfection through generated active chlorine species, thoroughly eliminating the biological safety hazards of the wastewater. Our company's equipment is optimized for the characteristics of aquaculture wastewater, ensuring stable and efficient generation of reactive species even when treating water with high organic background levels, thereby achieving pollutant reduction and water safety.
The effluent treated by the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment can meet standards for discharge or resource reuse (such as agricultural irrigation, livestock pen flushing).
The CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment, independently developed by our company, simultaneously achieves deep oxidation of organic matter and efficient inactivation of pathogens in a clean operation mode without chemical addition. This not only significantly improves effluent quality and safety but also simplifies operational management, providing a technical pathway for aquaculture wastewater treatment and resource recovery that features a small footprint, high efficiency, and no risk of secondary pollution.
For wastewater with special characteristics or unique treatment objectives, our company's engineers provide technical support and solutions.
