Petrochemical wastewater is a typical type of high-concentration, highly toxic, and refractory industrial wastewater, and its treatment is a global environmental challenge. This type of wastewater has an extremely complex composition, acting as a "complex mixture" of multiple pollutants: it typically contains large amounts of hydrocarbons (such as alkanes, alkenes), aromatic hydrocarbons (such as benzene, toluene, xylene), phenols, sulfides, cyanides, heavy metals, and various difficult-to-identify intermediate products and catalyst residues. Its notable characteristics include high chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), high oil content (often present as emulsified or dissolved oil), poor biodegradability, and significant fluctuations in water quality and quantity, exhibiting strong inhibitory and toxic effects on microbial systems. The traditional classic process of "oil separation - air flotation - biological treatment" often faces challenges when treating this type of wastewater, including high pretreatment requirements, fragile biological systems prone to failure, difficulty in achieving stable effluent quality that meets increasingly stringent discharge standards (particularly for specific toxic organic compounds and COD limits), and the generation of large amounts of oily sludge.
Addressing the core challenges of petrochemical wastewater—"complex composition, high toxicity, and poor biodegradability"—the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment, developed and manufactured by our company (AA&SS AQUA HITECH CO., LTD.), generates highly oxidizing reactive species, such as hydroxyl radicals, in-situ through electrochemical action. These species can non-selectively attack and break down stable organic molecular structures in the wastewater, such as benzene rings and long-chain alkanes, converting them into small organic acids and ultimately achieving complete mineralization. Its most prominent engineering advantage is that the operation requires no addition of any chemical agents. Furthermore, its reaction mechanism ensures that no chemical residual solid waste is generated, achieving a clean treatment process itself, which is particularly suitable for treating complex petrochemical wastewater that may produce unknown hazardous waste.
Wastewater enters the pretreatment stage, including gravity oil separation and air flotation (such as dissolved air flotation or vortex-induced air flotation) to remove the vast majority of free and dispersed oil. Conditions are stabilized for subsequent processes through pH adjustment, demulsification, and other means. Subsequently, the wastewater enters the EC Electrochemical Equipment for demulsification and advanced treatment. This unit efficiently removes residual emulsified oils, fine suspended solids, and colloids after pretreatment. It can also partially degrade toxic substances such as sulfides and cyanides through redox reactions and significantly improve the treatability of the wastewater, reducing the load for the final advanced oxidation stage.
After the preceding treatments, the remaining pollutants in the wastewater are primarily dissolved, biologically refractory, toxic, and harmful organic compounds. At this point, the wastewater enters the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment. Here, characteristic pollutants such as BTEX, phenols, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are efficiently decomposed and mineralized under strong electrochemical oxidation. Leveraging its specialized anti-fouling electrode design and high-efficiency reactor structure, our company's equipment ensures the efficient and continuous generation of oxidizing reactive species in high-salinity, complex media. This enables the stable and thorough elimination of wastewater toxicity and deep degradation of COD, allowing the effluent quality to meet discharge standards.
The CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment, independently developed by our company, achieves efficient and clean advanced removal of the most stubborn toxic organic pollutants in petrochemical wastewater (the entire process involves no chemical addition and generates no chemical sludge). It not only ensures stable, compliant discharge under extreme water quality conditions but also significantly reduces the lifecycle operational costs and environmental risks. This provides solid and reliable technical equipment support for the green transformation and sustainable development of petrochemical enterprises.
For wastewater with special characteristics or unique treatment objectives, our company's engineers provide technical support and solutions.
