The wastewater generated during modern coal chemical processes such as coal gasification, coking, and liquefaction contains not only conventional high concentrations of phenols and ammonia, but also a wealth of nitrogen-, oxygen-, and sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds (represented by quinoline, pyridine, carbazole, etc.) as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) including naphthalene, anthracene, and phenanthrene. These pollutants feature highly stable molecular structures, extreme biological toxicity, and extremely poor biodegradability, which constitute the core bottlenecks that make coal chemical wastewater treatment difficult, costly, and challenging to achieve consistently compliant effluent quality. Traditional biological treatment processes are almost ineffective against such contaminants, while physicochemical technologies like advanced oxidation face numerous drawbacks such as incomplete reactions, massive chemical reagent consumption, and the potential generation of toxic intermediates.
To tackle this well-recognized advanced treatment challenge in the industry, we have launched our Electrochemical Wastewater Treatment Equipment. Adopting directionally enhanced electrochemical advanced oxidation technology, this system is specially optimized for the ring-opening and bond cleavage of heterocyclic compounds and the efficient mineralization of PAHs, providing a clean, high-efficiency, and stable treatment solution that eliminates reliance on external oxidants and avoids the generation of secondary hazardous waste.
Core Advantages of the Equipment
Targeted Attack on Stable Structures for Advanced Oxidation and Detoxification
Through elaborately designed electrode materials and reaction configurations, the equipment in-situ generates reactive species with ultra-high oxidation potential (e.g., hydroxyl radicals). These species can effectively attack and cleave the stable C-N and C-O bonds in heterocyclic compounds as well as the condensed ring structures of PAHs, progressively breaking their rings and degrading them into carbon dioxide, water, and inorganic salts to achieve complete harmlessness. The entire process requires no addition of chemical catalysts or oxidants, fundamentally eliminating the accumulation of large amounts of iron sludge and toxic intermediates associated with processes like Fenton oxidation.
Integrated Skid-Mounted Design for Adaptation to Complex and Harsh Field Environments
Employing factory-prefabricated skid-mounted modules with corrosion-resistant and explosion-proof design, the equipment highly integrates the complex electrochemical oxidation system into a compact space, with a footprint far smaller than that of traditional advanced oxidation facilities. It can be fully and rapidly delivered to coal chemical industrial parks, enabling quick installation and commissioning. This design is particularly suitable for upgrading existing wastewater treatment systems, establishing dedicated lines for treating refractory pollutants, or serving as a key guarantee unit for zero-discharge pretreatment.
Flexible Process Configuration to Precisely Match Diverse Treatment Requirements
According to water quality characteristics and final disposal targets, the equipment can be flexibly integrated into the overall water treatment process:
As a Core Pretreatment and Detoxification Unit: It efficiently degrades heterocyclic compounds and PAHs in wastewater that exert strong inhibitory effects on biological treatment systems, significantly improving wastewater biodegradability (B/C ratio) and creating safe, stable influent conditions for subsequent biological nitrogen and carbon removal processes.
As an Advanced Treatment and Compliance Guarantee Unit: It performs terminal “polishing treatment” on the effluent from biochemical processes, ensuring that key indicators such as COD and characteristic pollutants (e.g., specific heterocyclic compounds and PAHs) consistently meet the strictest discharge standards or membrane system influent requirements.
As a Standalone Treatment System: For high-concentration, characteristic wastewater from specific production sections, it can be configured as an independent treatment line to achieve one-stop high-efficiency purification from influent to direct, consistently compliant effluent.
Intelligent Control and Robust Operation
Equipped with an advanced process intelligent control system, the equipment can real-time monitor water quality and automatically optimize core parameters such as current and voltage to cope with fluctuations in the composition and concentration of coal chemical wastewater. It features rapid startup and shutdown, perfectly matching continuous or intermittent production wastewater discharge modes and enabling convenient on-demand operation. Its “zero-chemical” design concept not only eliminates the safety risks associated with the storage, transportation, and dosing of chemical agents, but also significantly reduces long-term operational costs arising from chemical consumption and hazardous waste disposal.
Our electrochemical wastewater treatment equipment provides an advanced, high-efficiency, clean, cost-effective, and rapidly deployable solution for the coal chemical and coking industries facing the challenges of treating the most refractory pollutants. It serves as a key technological tool to help enterprises break through wastewater treatment bottlenecks, achieve stable compliance with discharge standards, fulfill environmental responsibilities, and move towards sustainable development.
