The high-concentration organic leachate generated from landfills or incineration plants is a globally recognized environmental governance challenge. This type of wastewater contains ultra-high levels of refractory organic matter (COD often ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of mg/L), high ammonia nitrogen, high total dissolved solids (TDS), heavy metals, and toxic and harmful substances. Characterized by extremely complex and highly fluctuating water quality, it usually exhibits poor biodegradability. The conventional combined process of “biochemical treatment + membrane filtration” is often plagued by lengthy process flows, enormous investment, difficult startup and highly unstable operation of biochemical systems, as well as the problems of rapid membrane fouling and challenging disposal of high-concentration concentrate. These issues result in high overall treatment costs and prominent risks in achieving stable discharge compliance.
To address the advanced treatment bottlenecks of this complex wastewater, we have launched our Electrochemical Wastewater Treatment Equipment. Adopting high-efficiency enhanced electrochemical advanced oxidation and synergistic treatment technologies, this system is specially optimized for directly attacking and mineralizing refractory organics in leachate while simultaneously counteracting the interference of high salinity and toxic substances. It provides an intensive, high-efficiency treatment solution that eliminates reliance on biological processes, avoids massive chemical dosing, and produces no secondary hazardous sludge waste.
Core Advantages of the Equipment
Potent Oxidation with High Salinity Tolerance to Target the Core of Refractory Pollution
Based on an optimized electrochemical system, the equipment directly generates reactive species with ultra-high oxidation potential, which can effectively attack and degrade macromolecular refractory organics such as humic acid and fulvic acid, converting them into small-molecule substances or achieving complete mineralization. The electrochemical process itself is tolerant to high salinity, and a high-conductivity environment can even enhance reaction efficiency, solving the problem of severe inhibition of traditional biochemical processes and Fenton-like chemical oxidation caused by high salinity. The entire process requires no addition of chemical oxidants (e.g., Fenton’s reagent) or acid-base agents for complex pretreatment, fundamentally avoiding the massive production of hazardous chemical sludge and increased volume of high-salt concentrate resulting from chemical dosing, and realizing intrinsic volume reduction and clean treatment.
Integrated Skid-Mounted Modules for Rapid Deployment and Flexible Capacity Expansion
Employing factory-prefabricated, highly functionally integrated skid-mounted modules, the equipment condenses the core oxidation unit—traditionally requiring a large cluster of structures—into an extremely compact space, with a footprint of only 1/3 or less of that of conventional advanced oxidation facilities. It can be fully and rapidly transported to landfills or disposal centers for quick installation and commissioning. This design is particularly suitable for serving as an enhanced pretreatment or advanced guarantee unit for existing treatment systems, rapidly improving overall treatment capacity and shock resistance. It is also ideal for modular, phased construction of new projects.
Flexible Multi-Functional Applications to Precisely Match Different Treatment Stages
According to leachate water quality characteristics (e.g., landfill age) and final disposal targets (compliant discharge, membrane system influent protection, or concentrate volume reduction), the equipment can be flexibly deployed in key links of the full treatment process:
As a Core Enhanced Pretreatment Unit: It performs high-efficiency oxidation on raw leachate or pre-biochemical wastewater, drastically reducing COD load (especially the non-biodegradable fraction), eliminating the inhibitory effect of toxic substances on microorganisms, significantly improving wastewater biodegradability (B/C ratio), and creating stable, high-efficiency operating conditions for subsequent biochemical or denitrification systems. It is the key to solving the pain points of “difficult biochemical startup and unstable operation”.
As an Advanced Treatment & Pre-Membrane Guarantee Unit: It conducts advanced oxidation “polishing” on effluent from membrane bioreactors (MBR) or biochemical processes, further degrading residual refractory COD and chroma, ensuring the water quality meets the safe influent requirements of nanofiltration (NF)/reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and greatly reducing membrane fouling risks and cleaning frequency.
As a High-Efficiency Concentrate Volume Reduction & Treatment Unit: For high-concentration refractory concentrate generated by membrane systems, it can be configured as an independent or synergistic treatment line to achieve efficient decomposition and volume reduction of organics in the concentrate, significantly alleviating the heavy pressure of final evaporative crystallization or solidification disposal.
Intelligent Control, Robust Operation & On-Demand Startup
Equipped with an advanced Process Intelligent Control System (PICS), the equipment can real-time monitor key water quality parameters (e.g., ORP, pH) and automatically optimize operating conditions to cope with the drastic fluctuations of leachate water quality. It features rapid startup capability, adapting to continuous or intermittent operation modes, perfectly matching the irregularity of leachate generation and collection, and realizing convenient on-demand operation. Its core “zero (or minimal) chemical agent” process not only completely eliminates the operational burden and safety risks associated with hazardous chemical storage and dosing, but also avoids the substantial sludge disposal costs and environmental liabilities derived therefrom.
Our electrochemical wastewater treatment equipment provides an innovative, high-efficiency, compact, cost-effective, and rapidly deployable solution for solid waste disposal and environmental engineering enterprises facing the ultimate challenge of landfill leachate treatment. It serves as a key technological choice to help enterprises break through existing treatment bottlenecks, achieve stable discharge compliance of complex wastewater, significantly reduce life-cycle costs, and improve project reliability.
