Landfill leachate, especially that from landfills accepting industrial waste or special waste, is typically characterized by composite pollution featuring ultra-high salinity (e.g., chlorides, sulfates) and a variety of heavy metal ions (such as lead, chromium, cadmium, nickel, copper, zinc, etc.). This type of wastewater exhibits extremely poor biodegradability and strong inhibitory effects on biological treatment systems. Meanwhile, conventional treatment processes including chemical precipitation, ion exchange, and standard advanced oxidation suffer from drastically reduced efficiency in high-salinity media, and are universally plagued by systemic challenges such as massive chemical reagent consumption, generation of large volumes of heavy metal-containing hazardous sludge, complicated process flows, and high operational costs.

To address the advanced treatment challenges of leachate contaminated by combined high salinity and heavy metals, we have launched our Electrochemical Wastewater Treatment Equipment. This system innovatively integrates multiple synergistic mechanisms including electrochemical oxidation, electroreduction deposition, and electrocoagulation. Specially optimized for efficient removal and recovery of heavy metals as well as simultaneous degradation of coexisting organics in high-salinity matrices, it provides an innovative, clean, high-efficiency, and highly adaptable treatment solution that eliminates reliance on external chemical agents and avoids the production of secondary hazardous waste.

Core Advantages of the Equipment

High Salinity Tolerance and Synergistic Removal to Enable Heavy Metal Reduction and Resource Recovery Potential

The electrochemical process is not inhibited by high salinity; on the contrary, the high electrical conductivity of the wastewater can enhance reaction efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Through precise potential regulation, the system can achieve selective electroreduction deposition or electrocoagulation coprecipitation of heavy metal ions, thereby efficiently separating heavy metals from the water body. It even allows for potential resource recovery in the form of metallic elements or stable oxides. The entire process requires no continuous dosing of large quantities of chemical precipitants such as alkalis and sulfides, fundamentally avoiding the generation of tonnage-level heavy metal-containing hazardous chemical sludge, and realizing intrinsic volume reduction and clean treatment.

Integrated Skid-Mounted Design for Adaptation to Harsh Landfill Environments

Employing fully enclosed, factory-prefabricated skid-mounted modules made of highly corrosion-resistant materials, the equipment features a compact and robust structure with a footprint far smaller than that of traditional chemical precipitation and oxidation systems. It can be fully and rapidly deployed in harsh-condition landfills or disposal centers for quick installation and commissioning. This design is particularly suitable for serving as an advanced heavy metal removal unit or emergency treatment facility for existing leachate treatment systems, or for the classified treatment of high-difficulty wastewater such as membrane concentrate.

Flexible Multi-Functional Configuration to Precisely Address Composite Pollution Challenges

According to leachate water quality characteristics and final disposal requirements, the equipment can be flexibly integrated into the overall treatment process:

As a Core Pretreatment and Heavy Metal Recovery Unit: It efficiently removes and recovers heavy metals from wastewater while degrading partial organics, creating safe and stable influent conditions for subsequent desalination processes (e.g., membrane systems) or biological treatment, and protecting key equipment from contamination and poisoning.

As an Advanced Treatment and Compliance Guarantee Unit: It performs terminal polishing treatment on the effluent from preceding processes, ensuring that heavy metal ion concentrations consistently meet strict discharge standards down to ppm or even ppb levels, while simultaneously conducting advanced oxidation of residual organics.

As a Standalone Treatment System: For specific leachate or concentrate with high salinity and high heavy metal concentrations, it can be configured as an independent, short-process treatment line to achieve one-stop purification of multiple pollutants from influent to simultaneous compliance with discharge standards.

Intelligent Control, Robust Operation & Simple Management

Equipped with an advanced process intelligent control system, the equipment can real-time monitor and automatically optimize core parameters such as potential and current to cope with water quality fluctuations, ensuring stable heavy metal removal efficiency. It features rapid startup capability, adapting to the irregular generation and collection patterns of leachate, and realizing convenient on-demand operation. Its core design of “no chemical agent dosing” completely eliminates the operational burden and safety risks associated with the storage, transportation, and dosing of high-risk chemicals, while also eradicating the enormous disposal costs and long-term environmental liabilities related to heavy metal-containing hazardous sludge.

Our electrochemical wastewater treatment equipment provides solid waste disposal, environmental engineering, and municipal operation enterprises facing the challenges of treating leachate with composite pollution of high salinity and heavy metals with an innovative solution characterized by high-efficiency synergy, strong tolerance, resource recovery potential, and rapid deployment. It serves as a key technological tool to help enterprises overcome complex water quality challenges, achieve stable compliance with discharge standards, significantly reduce life-cycle costs, and improve project reliability.
