Rotary bar screen | Automatic solid-liquid separation, continuous cleaning
Rotary bar screens are the most commonly used mechanical bar screens in wastewater treatment and water intake projects. They are used to continuously intercept and remove various suspended solids in water, such as plastic bags, fibers, branches, fruit peels, weeds, and fine particles. The equipment employs a unique rake tooth structure or chain plate design, automatically scooping out the screenings through rotation and conveying them to the upper discharge port, preventing screenings from accumulating and causing blockages. They are widely used in municipal wastewater treatment plants, industrial wastewater pretreatment, pumping stations, rainwater storage tanks, and water supply plants.
core components
Drive unit: Cycloidal pinwheel reducer motor or helical gear reducer motor, reliable overload protection, adaptable to frequent starts.
Rotary chain/rake tooth assembly: High-strength nylon rake teeth or stainless steel chain + rake combination, gap selectable (1mm–50mm).
Frame and guide rail: Carbon steel epoxy anti-corrosion or stainless steel 304/316, with embedded parts or flange mounting structure.
Upper drive wheel + lower driven wheel: Drives the rotary mechanism for smooth operation.
Slag removal device: Brushes or scrapers automatically clean the slag on the rake teeth, ensuring clean slag removal.
Electrical control box: Enables time/liquid level difference linkage control, automatic start/stop, and fault alarm.
Working principle
The equipment is installed inside the canal at a steep angle. A drive unit rotates a rake chain or rotary chain. When the rake teeth pass the screen interception surface, they lift the intercepted screenings upwards along the guide plate. At the top discharge port, a cleaning brush or scraper automatically removes the screenings, which fall into a conveyor or hopper. Empty rake teeth continue to circulate to the bottom to rake again, achieving continuous cleaning.
Main advantages
Fully Automatic Operation: Automatically starts and stops based on the liquid level difference before and after the screen or time intervals, requiring no manual intervention.
High Separation Efficiency: Effectively intercepts even fine screenings, preventing blockages in subsequent pumps and pipelines.
Wear-Resistant and Durable: Nylon rake teeth are corrosion-resistant and self-lubricating; stainless steel construction is suitable for corrosive environments.
Overload Protection: Mechanical shear pins or electronic overload sensors automatically stop and alarm when encountering obstructions.
Easy Maintenance: Modular assembly; rake teeth can be replaced individually without disassembling the entire machine.
Customizable Channel Width/Depth: Channel widths up to 3 meters and depths up to 10 meters.
