Machining wastewater is a typical industrial effluent generated from processes such as metal cutting, grinding, stamping, heat treatment, and surface cleaning. Its water quality characteristics and treatment challenges are closely linked to precision manufacturing processes. The primary pollutants in the wastewater include high concentrations of mineral oils, emulsions, suspended metal particles (iron, aluminum, copper, etc.), surfactants, various organic additives (e.g., rust inhibitors, extreme pressure additives), and certain heavy metal ions. Its defining features are high oil content (particularly emulsified oil), high suspended solids concentration, strong chemical stability, poor biodegradability, and significant fluctuations in water quality depending on the specific machining process and the type of cutting or coolant fluid used. Employing the traditional "demulsification-coagulation-air flotation-biological treatment" process often encounters severe challenges, such as incomplete demulsification leading to excessive oil in the effluent, high consumption of coagulants generating large volumes of hazardous sludge containing oil and metals, and biological systems becoming inhibited by oil and biocides, resulting in unstable operation. Consequently, consistently meeting discharge standards for COD, petroleum hydrocarbons, and suspended solids in the final effluent becomes difficult.
To address the core treatment difficulties of machining wastewater—"stable, hard-to-break emulsified oils; the coexistence of suspended solids and heavy metals; and refractory, poorly biodegradable organic matter"—the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment, developed and manufactured by our company, plays a key role in degrading refractory organic components and achieving advanced purification. Through electrocatalytic action, the equipment generates highly oxidizing free radicals that effectively decompose residual organic additives, surfactants, and certain dissolved oils in the wastewater, breaking their molecular structures, significantly reducing COD, and eliminating biological toxicity. Its fundamental advantages are that the entire advanced oxidation process operates without adding any chemical oxidizing agents, thereby avoiding the issues of salt accumulation and large quantities of chemical sludge associated with traditional methods like Fenton's reagent. Furthermore, this purely electrochemical process does not generate any additional chemical sludge or solid residues, substantially reducing the production and disposal costs of hazardous waste from the source, which aligns perfectly with the manufacturing industry's inherent goals of cleaner production and pollution/carbon reduction.
The wastewater first undergoes pretreatment, including multi-stage screening to intercept large metal chips and debris, followed by equalization to homogenize water quality and quantity, thereby buffering against shock loads from intermittent discharges. The pretreated wastewater then enters the front-end EC Electrochemical Equipment. The micro-flocculants (e.g., iron or aluminum ions) generated electrolytically efficiently destabilize emulsified oils, achieving oil-water separation, while simultaneously removing the vast majority of suspended metal particles and colloids through flocculation and sweep coagulation. Concurrently, electrochemical reduction facilitates the deposition or co-precipitation of certain heavy metal ions at the cathode, enabling their efficient removal. This unit can replace or significantly enhance traditional chemical demulsification and coagulation processes, resulting in less and denser sludge production.
The supernatant after solid-liquid separation enters the CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment. Here, intense electrochemical oxidation enables the deep decomposition and mineralization of all refractory organic matter, thoroughly eliminating its toxicity and further reducing COD and color. Our equipment is optimized for the potentially oily and saline characteristics of machining wastewater, ensuring the long-term stability and high catalytic efficiency of the electrodes within complex media.
Finally, the effluent treated by the CQDHX SERIES EO equipment can stably meet discharge limits after simple filtration (e.g., sand filtration, activated carbon filtration). A portion of the high-quality effluent can be directly reused in production processes such as cleaning or cooling, enabling water resource recycling.
Utilizing our independently developed CQDHX SERIES EO Electrochemical Oxidation Equipment in a clean operational mode—requiring no chemical addition and generating no chemical sludge—efficiently and synergistically addresses the combined challenges of demulsification, suspended solids removal, and degradation of toxic organics. This not only ensures stable compliance and reuse potential of the effluent but also fundamentally and significantly reduces hazardous waste production and lifecycle treatment costs, providing solid and reliable core technical equipment support for the green transformation and sustainable development of the machinery manufacturing industry.
For wastewater with special characteristics or unique treatment objectives, our company's engineers provide technical support and solutions.
